Police get strict for Big Match Season

The Police Department today said it will deploy officers dressed as civilians and students as a special measure to prevent any illegal activities at school cricket encounters in Colombo and other major cities, during Big Match Season.
It has been reported that students and other supporters are behaving in unruly manner during these cricket matches, the police spokesman’s office said in a release.
Complaints have been received regarding students and Big Match supporters obstructing traffic, harassing and causing inconvenience to pedestrians as well as other students, police said, adding, police officers have therefore been dispatched in order to prevent such situations.
