A 10-year-old student died following an accident during a football match at a school in the Silawathura area in Mannar.
Police said the boy was watching the football match when a steel pole fixed at the ground had suddenly fallen on his body.
The student was rushed to a nearby hospital, however succumbed to injuries last night, police said.
