Court prevents UNP from taking disciplinary action on MPs

Court granted enjoining orders preventing the United National Party from taking disciplinary action against MPs Earl Gunasekera, Lakshman Seneviratne and Nimal Wijesinghe.
Earlier today the Colombo District Court refused to issue an enjoining order preventing the UNP from conducting a disciplinary inquiry on Deputy Minister Abdul Carder.
Abdul Carder, Earl Gunasekara, N Wijesinghe and Lakshman Seneviratne are among the MPs who crossed over to the government after contesting the election with the UNP.
The UNP had sought to launch disciplinary inquiries on the MPs for voting in favor of the impeachment motion against the former Chief Justice.
