The United National Party today accused the government of following in the footsteps of Sudan.
UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella claimed that the government does not have proper foreign policy and that other nations are pressurizing Sri Lanka as a result of this.
He pointed out that no international organization was able to pass a resolution on Sri Lanka during any previous government and that the ruling government’s inability was the main cause for a second resolution being brought at the UNHRC in Geneva.
Kiriella further stated that the United Nations intervened in war-torn Sudan and declaring that Muslims and Christians cannot coexist divided the country to North and South Sudan.
He accused the government of paving the road for a similar situation in Sri Lanka.
