VIDEO: President declares March 18 Civil Aviation Day

President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared March 18 as the Civil Aviation Day at the Mattala International Airport a short while ago.
The President addressed the gathering at the opening ceremony of the Airport in Mattala today (March 18).
During the time when dhal was air dropped into Sri Lanka and when the LTTE bombed the airport, Sri Lanka was disgraced in front of the world as a country that did not have any airport security, the President stated.
However, with the opening of the Mattala airport, he said that the skies over Sri Lanka will be brightened.
Furthermore, he added that the government is not apprehensive to take loans for development as some of most powerful nations in the world do the same.
The President claimed that these loans were not taken to eat, drink and pawn the country but for development purposes.
