Artillery shell explodes in Nochchiyagama

An artillery shell exploded at the residence of a scrap metal collector in Nochchiyagama this morning injuring one person.
A 20-year-old youth employed by the scrap metal collector was injured by the explosion, which reportedly occurred when they had attempted to cut the artillery shell.
Police said the scrap metal collector had fled the area following the incident and that a large number of artillery shells were found in his residence.
Nochchiyagama Police has launched an investigation to track down the suspect and arrest him.
