Excise officers raid illegal liquor brewery in Madurankuliya

Puttalam Excise officers arrested one suspects and confiscated a large haul of illicit liquor and various equipment after raiding an illegal liquor brewery in Welasiya, Madurankuliya.
Over 70 bottles of illicit liquor, 360,000 drams of goda and equipment used to brew liquor were seized following the raid, Ada Derana reporter said.
The arrested suspect, a resident of Amakuliya, is to be produced at the Puttalam District Court.
The raid was carried out by a team of officials led by Puttalam Excise OIC Franklin Fernando, acting on a tip-off regarding a illegal liquor brewery operating near the Welasiya waterfall in Madurankuliya.
