Youth dies after consuming poison; illicit lover survives

A 20 year old youth died after consuming poison in a forest in the Talawa area over a love affair, police stated. A woman had also consumed poison along with the victim and had been hospitalized thereafter.
The victim was a resident of the Kiralogama area in Kudawewa. The couple had consumed poison over an illicit love affair while the woman who survived was rushed to the Anuradhapura hospital for treatment.
The male victim’s body was taken to the Talawa hospital while a post mortem will be conducted today (March 27).
