
The Indian Coast guard will hand over Lankan fishermen to its Navy at the international maritime border today, Indian Media reported.
The Ramnathapuram district court had ordered the release of the fishermen lodged in Thoothukudi Srivaikuntam jail.
The five Sri Lankan fishermen were arrested on 18th of this month by Indian coast guard men for fishing in Indian waters 47 nautical miles off Thoothukudi. They were handed over to Thoothukudi police and were remanded to jail by Ramanathapuram court.
Meanwhile the fishermen of Rameswaram continued their indefinite strike for the fourteenth day today urging the release of 19 Tamil fishermen hailing from Rameswaram who are still lodged in Sri Lankan jail.
