UNP MP Karu Jayasuriya today said that the entire world has now come to know about the incident in Pepiliyana and that it has caused disgrace to Sri Lanka.
A violent mob had stoned and later set fire to a store and warehouse in Pepiliyana on Thursday (March 28), causing damages to property and injuring at least 3 persons.
He pointed out that repeated accusations were made in the past claiming the then UNP government was preparing to sell the Sigiriya rock and was opening up casinos in the country.
However, the same individuals who had accused the UNP are now in power and are opening casinos, the parliamentarian said speaking to reporters in Colombo today.
The former UNP Deputy Leader also charged that the ruling government is currently attempting to spread the casino business in the island with the assistance of a well-known a gaming mogul.
