
Sri Lanka Navy arrested 30 Indian fishermen along with 5 fishing trawlers for engaging in illegal fishing in the Northern seas off the coast of Talaimannar.
The fishermen arrested yesterday have been handed over to Talaimannar Police for legal action, navy said.
This brings the total number of Indian fishermen arrested within the last two days to 56, after the arrest of 26 Indian fishermen on Friday.
Vessels attached to the Northern Naval Command arrested the Indian fishermen and 5 Indian trawlers in Sri Lankan Waters off Kovilam Point.
They were brought to Kayts Island and handed over to Fisheries Department Authorities for legal action, SLN media unit said.
