
The Trade Ministry says legal action has been taken regarding 3,058 shop owners for irregularities in business practices during the festive season while close to Rs 8 million have been collected in fines.
Legal action was taken against traders charged with selling goods at different prices, changing information contained in items, not displaying prices, selling expired items, selling electrical appliances without warranty, misleading customers and not issuing proper receipts.
Close to Rs 8 million has been collected in fines from the raids carried out since March, the Ministry of Co-Operatives and Internal Trade said.
