Four year old girl killed in unfortunate lorry accident

A four year old girl was killed in the Athkenda area in Walasmulla after she was run over by a lorry, police stated.
The lorry had been parked near a house before an attempt was made to start up the vehicle following which the girl was struck.
The girl was severely injured in the incident and was taken to the Walasmulla hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
She had arrived in the area with her parents to visit relatives when the incident took place.
Police stated that the lorry driver had been taken into custody while the Walasmulla police will conduct further inquiries.
