US aid reduction result of economic trend in the US - Senior Official

US aid reduction to Sri Lanka and India is the result of continued economic trend in the US and has no effect on the country, a Senior Government Official stated as the Government Information Department reported.
The US Secretary of State, John Kerry proposed that US aid to Sri Lanka should be cut by 20% which is believe to be the highest aid cut that any South Asian country received within his budget proposals.
Speaking to Ada Derana yesterday, another senior official stated that it would be useful for the US to revitalize their economy using the resources that they have.
These remarks come in the wake of unease between the two nations in their ties over various issues related to human rights.
