Private bus operators strike over assault on driver

The 190 private bus operators from Meegoda to Pettah have gone on strike over the assault of a bus driver last night (April 22), the President of the Private Bus Owners Association, Gemunu Wijeyratne stated.
The 170 bus operators from Athurugiriya-Pettah also joined in the strike this morning (April 23) but had called off the strike action later on, Wijeyratne said.
The strike will continue until the suspects responsible for assaulting and injuring the bus driver are taken into custody, he added.
