A brawl between two on duty police officers and the Vice Chairman of the Buttala Pradeshiya Sabha resulted in all three of them being hospitalized.
The police officers had flagged down the local politician’s vehicle for allegedly violating traffic laws in the Okkampitiya Junction in Buttala last night which had led to the altercation.
All three persons were injured in the incident and admitted to the Buttala and Monaragala hospitals.
Police said a team of officers led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) have launched investigations into the incident.
The incident comes just a day after an army soldier and his cousin were arrested for assaulting to police officers who had arrived at the scene of a traffic accident which had also taken place in Buttala town.
