Cops break up plan to protest at IPL match

Forty Students Federation for Free Eelam (SFFE) members were held when federation coordinator V Prabhakaran was briefing them about action to be taken inside Chepauk stadium during the IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Hyderabad Sunrisers on Thursday.  

Prabhakaran said they were planning to enter the stadium with T-shirts, each bearing an alphabet that together would spell ‘Free Tamil Eelam Boycott Sri Lankan Players’. 

Police said they also seized 40 IPL tickets and T-shirts from SFFE members. The students planned the protest to get international attention and demand a boycott of Sri Lankan players. 

Prabhakaran said they were planning to conduct the protest inside the stadium in a peaceful manner. - ToI
