Three policemen arrested over murder of three persons

Three police officers from Thambalagamuwa and Seruwila were taken into custody by the Criminal Investigations Department in connections with shooting and killing three persons who had been collecting firewood in a forest in Trincomalee.
The three victims were had been collecting firewood in the Komarasangkada forest in Trincomalee when the shooting had taken place back in 2008.
The three persons were initially reported missing while their remains were found later by the police.
The three officers including the OIC of the crimes division of the Thambalagamuwa police were arrested as part of the investigations while the Police Media Spokesman confirmed that the CID will conduct further inquiries into the incident.
