Man arrested at BIA with over Rs.2.5mil worth of gold

One person was arrested in possession of four gold nuggets worth more than Rs.2.5 million at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Customs Officials stated.

 

The suspect was a resident of Kandy, the Customs Media Spokesman Leslie Gamini stated.

 

The suspect was reported to have been headed to Mumbai, India last night (May 1) when he was arrested.

 

Gamini stated that he had hidden the gold in his shoes while the gold had weighed around 400g.
