Over 23,000 people affected by heavy rains and floods

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reported that 5419 families and 23,002 persons have been affected so far by the adverse weather conditions prevailing in most parts of the island.
2088 people belonging to 459 families have been settled in 10 temporary camps around the country, the DMC stated.
The DMC also reported that steps are being taken to provide the necessary food provisions and other facilities to the displaced people.
