
The Kohulwala Police have arrested the two suspects who allegedly robbed the Lanka Electricity Company (LECO) office on Highlevel Road, Nugegoda on April 22. The two are being held in detention while investigation continue.
The suspects have been given detention orders while the police are continuing their investigation into the robbery.
On April 22, two individuals bearing arms stormed into the office and stole Rs.1,050,871 from the LECO office located at No.204, Highlevel Road, Nugegoda.
According to the investigations by the Kohuwala police two arrests were made earlier with Balawinagamage Priyantha from 796, Pragathi Mawatha, Pannipitiya being arrested on May 6 and Kamkanamgamage Priyantha from Pragathi Mawatha, Eksath Mawatha junction being arrested on May 7.
Two SSP-type hand grenades, one locally manufactured Galakatas firearm, four Bora-12 bullets and a pair of handcuffs were also seized from the suspects.
Police also seized the motorbike which was used in the heist, other property and gold jewellery bought with the stolen money.
The suspects are being held under detention while investigations and questioning continues.
