Deputy Minister of Transport Rohana Dissanayake stated that the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) had suffered no losses providing buses for the May Day rally and that the profits it had generated will be revealed later.
Dissanayake said this in response to accusation by UNP MP P. Harrison, who charged that the UPFA had brought down 1,000 buses for its May Day rally and that the SLTB had incurred losses amounting to around Rs 20 million.
The deputy minister completely rejected the allegations in Parliament today and stated that the buses were provided for proper payments.
When MP Harrison inquired as to how much profit the SLTB had generated in profit by supplying the buses, Deputy Minister Dissanayake said he was ill prepared to inform parliament today regarding the profits and assured the exact numbers will be revealed after proper calculations.
