A suspect accused of cheating money out of several individuals after promising them jobs in Malaysia has been arrested at the Katunayake International Airport.
He was arrested by officers of the Immigration and Emigration Department upon arriving in the country this morning from Malaysia, Immigration and Emigration Controller Chulananda Perera said.
The suspect, who is a resident of Kurunegala, was arrested after the Mirihana Special Investigations Unit had informed the Immigration and Emigration Department on the complaints against him.
He had reportedly left the country for Malaysia in January and had engaged in the fraudulent job racket with the help of another individual.
The arrested suspect has been handed over to Katunayake Police for further investigations, Mr Perera said.
