Man commits suicide by jumping into Kelani river

A person committed suicide by jumping into the Kelani River this morning (May 15), police stated. The man was a 40 year old manager at a private company.
It is reported that the man had parked his jeep near the Kelanimullala Gangathilaka Viharaya and had been standing near the river for a short time before he had jumped in.
The Navy has begun search operations for the man’s body while the Wellampitiya police are conducting further inquiries into the matter.
