SLFP Organizer for Kilinochchi District Geethanjali Naguleshwaran’s security personnel including two policemen and her driver were allegedly assaulted last night (May 26) while having dinner in the Vavuniya town.
The two policemen were admitted to the Vavuniya hospital, Naguleshwaran stated.
She stated that she had arrived at home at around 10pm last night after attending several meetings in Batticaloa after which her driver and the two police security officers had traveled to the Vavuniya town to have dinner.
Between 10.10pm and 10.30pm a group of around 15 persons had attacked the three persons.
The driver managed to escape the assailants and had reported the incident to Naguleshwaran who then called the Vavuniya police to inform them of the assault on her security personnel.
She stated that she is not aware of the real reason behind the attack.
