Two persons were killed after being hit by trains in separate incidents in Hikkaduwa and Anuradhapura. The victims were 18 years and 25 years of age respectively.
An 18 year old who was traveling as a passenger on a motorbike was killed at an unprotected railway crossing in the Wellawatta area of Hikkaduwa while another person was injured in the incident.
The victim was a resident of the Kalupe area of Hikkaduwa while the motorcyclist was injured and was taken to the Balapitiya hospital.
The body of the victim was taken to the Karapitiya hospital.
Meanwhile, a 25 year old youth was killed after being struck by a train bound from Vavuniya to Colombo, near the Anuradhapura Madya Maha Vidyalaya.
The victim was a resident of Ihalagama, Mihintale and his body was taken to the Anuradhapura hospital.
