Operations at the Sapugaskanda refinery have begun after refining operations were temporarily shut down on May 16 in view of delays in crude oil shipments and maintenance work.
Refinery Manager at the CPC, Neil Jayasekera stated that the refinery started receiving oil since last evening and had therefore begun operations.
CPC Trade Unions claim that officials at the CPC are attempting to conduct corrupt deals through last minute purchases of crude oil.
Officials denied these accusations and stated that steps are being taken to bring down shipments of crude oil from Oman and Dubai as soon as possible.
