Two vans crash head on; one dead, seven injured

One person was killed and seven others were injured when two vans crashed head on this morning (May 29) on the Adigama-Keeriyankalliya road in Kalkuliya, police stated.

 

The incident took place at around 9.30am today while police reported that 23 year old E.M. Saman, a resident of the Mahausweva area in Uriyawa died in the crash.

 

Three of the injured persons were taken to the Chilaw hospital while the other four was rushed to the Mundalama District hospital.

 

Police stated that one of the vans was transporting a group of female garment factory workers.

 

The Mundalama police traffic unit is conducting further inquiries into the incident.
