A Police Sergeant, attached to the Kebithigollewa Police Station, has been arrested by Bribery Commission officers on charges of soliciting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The police officer in question had reportedly received the bribe in order to arrange bail for a suspect currently in remand custody.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
