Infant’s body found floating in canal

The body of an infant has been recovered from the Haradigala Bu Ela (canal) in Wilgodawatta, Kurunegala.
Police officers discovered the body of an infant, several days old, following a search carried out according to information received.
Kurunegala Police is conducting further investigations to determine whether the infant was intentionally dumped in the canal.
Meanwhile in a separate incident, a disabled child drowned after falling into an unprotected well located behind a row of shops near the old Anuradhapura bus stand.
Police said the victim is a 7-year-old boy and that the incident occurred last evening.
Anuradhapura Police is conducting investigations.
