Over 2000 persons taken to courts for facilitating dengue breeding

The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association stated that within the first five months of 2013, cases were filed against 2173 persons who were accused of facilitating the breeding of dengue mosquitoes.
The Deputy Secretary of the Associations, C.S. Muthukuda stated that among the accused were home owners and heads of state and private enterprises.
Around 9000 persons have received warnings concerning the facilitating mosquito breeding.
It’s reported that over Rs.5 million has been earned in fines for this offence so far.
A large number of dengue cases have been reported in the Colombo Municipality while large numbers of cases have been reported in the Gampaha, Ratnapura, Kurunegala and Kalutara Districts.
