Police in London have arrested the mastermind of the plot in which a Sri Lankan Tamil origin British couple was kidnapped after landing at the Chennai International airport .
Britain’s Scotland Yard and Special Organised Crime Agency contacted the city police, and with the help of their counterparts in Tiruchy, Villupuram and the state intelligence, the city police team arrested the abductors over the weekend and rescued the couple on Sunday morning around 8.30.
Three cars used by the abductors have also been seized. Upon inquiry, the police ascertained that the mastermind was Ajandhan, a Srilankan Tamil working at the couple’s supermarket. He had devised the plan and taken the help of his friend Ramesh, who also worked in another supermarket there, to contact the abductors.
The city police passed the information to the London police, who have arrested Ajandhan. – Express News Service
