The Department of Meteorology today requested naval and fishing communities to remain ‘vigilant’ as deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle will be rough with strong southwesterly wind upto 70kmp/h.
In a weather forecast issued for the next 36 hours, it said that another rain spell in the South-Western parts and windy condition over Sri Lanka and neighboring sea areas are expected.
Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces and in the Puttalam and Kurunegala districts, the Met Department said.
“Southwestern monsoonal winds will strengthen at times over the island and especially along the western slopes of central hills,” it further said.
