Three persons were wounded and rushed to hospital after the vehicle they were traveling in veered off the road and fell into a precipice near the Kalugala School in Ginigathena this morning.
Police said the accident occurred at around 4.30 a.m. today and that the injured persons, including the driver of the car, have been admitted to the Ginigathena Hospital and later transferred to the Nawalapitiya Hospital for further treatment.
The car was traveling from Moratumulla to Pudalu Oya, to attend a funeral in the area, police said.
Meanwhile in a separate incident one person died after a motorcycle lost control and crashed into a roadside tree in Galoruwa on the Madampe-Kuliyapitiya road.
The deceased has been identified as a 22-year-old youth from Weerakodiyana.
