VIDEO: 17 Dikwella police officers transferred after clash

Seventeen officer of the Dikwella Police Station have been transferred following a clash with a group of individuals preparing for the Poson Perahera of a temple in Dikwella, Matara last night.
Residents of the area had conducted a rehearsal for the annual pageant while police officers had visited the location following a complaint received regarding a disturbance caused by the group.
A clash had later occurred reportedly between the policemen and the persons engaging in the rehearsals for the Perahera.
Therefore 17 officers of the Dikwella Police Station have been transferred temporarily while an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) has been appointed to investigate the incident.
