VIDEO: Fishing communities asked to remain vigilant

The Department of Meteorology today again requested naval and fishing communities to be vigilant as wind speeds may increase up to 50-70 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota, as well as the sea areas off the coast extending from Jaffna to Trincomalee.
The weather forecast issued at 4pm today, for the next 36 hours, states that showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern provinces and may extend to the North-Western Province too.
Heavy showers (around 100mm) are also expected at some places, it said.
Southwestern monsoonal winds will strengthen at times over the island and especially along the western slopes of central hills.
