The country will not face a diesel shortage even though the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation rejected a consignment of 40,000 metric tons of substandard diesel which was in turn sent back, the CPC stated.
A ship with 40,000 metric tons of substandard diesel was rejected on June 22and was sent back.
The consignment which arrived at the Colombo Harbour from Dubai on Saturday (June 22) was subject to thorough tests and inspections, the Commercial Manager of CPC A.P. Samaraweera said.
The consignment was brought by the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) while Trade Unionists now claim that the CPC had not claimed any compensation from the Emirati company and had only requested for a consignment of better quality diesel.
