A Badulla-bound train scheduled to depart from the Colombo Fort Railway Station at 8.30am today was delayed for over two-and-a-half hours due to a worker crisis at the Maradana Platform, the Railway Control Room said.
Employees had boycotted duties in protest to disciplinary action taken against several workers who had allegedly threatened the depot master, the secretary of the Railway Service Trade Union Alliance, Sampath Rajitha said.
However, the workers had resumed work after assurance that no disciplinary action would be taken against them and the Badulla train had reached the Fort Railway Station for departure.
