School girl killed after being struck by a bus in Anuradhapura

A school girl was killed after being knocked down by a bus in the Anuradhapura town last night (July 7), police stated. The girl was part of a group of devotees traveling from Galgamuwa to Anuradhapura.
The bus had been experiencing technical difficulties and had been parked on the side of the road when it suddenly started up and moved forward knocking the girl down, witnesses claimed.
The girl had been traveling in the bus prior to the technical difficulties and had been standing in front of the vehicle while it was being tended to.
The Anuradhapura police are conducting further inquiries.
