Stamp duty for certifying affidavits reduced

The stamp duty when certifying an affidavit has been reduced to Rs 50 from the previous Rs 250 with affect from May 10, the Ministry of Justice said.
It said that revised stamp duty has been included in the special gazette notification No. 1809/19 issued on May 10, 2013.
The ministry stated that a decision was taken to reduce the stamp duty after it was reported that public was facing difficulties due to the stamp duty for certifying affidavits being increased to Rs 250.
