Nine including ‘Atha Kota’ remanded over estate superintendent’s murder

Nine suspects including the former Chairman of the Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha were remanded till July 15 by the Avissawella Magistrate, over the alleged murder of an estate superintendent.

Noori Estate superintendent Nihal Perera was hacked to death in Deraniyagala on July 05.

Three suspects were previously arrested over the murder and were yesterday remanded until the July 15.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today produced 8 more suspects while another suspect in the case, Anil Champika, also known as ‘Atha Kota’, a former Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha chairman, had personally appeared in court.

All nine of them were remanded till July 15 by the Avissawella Magistrate.

So far 12 suspects have been arrested over the murder of the estate superintendent.
