Mother buries newborn baby in paddy field

Police have discovered the body of a newborn baby buried in a paddy field in the Central Camp area in Ampara allegedly by the infant’s own mother.
The 30-year-old woman, who lives alone at a residence in the area, had reportedly given birth to the baby on Saturday (13) night and had buried the baby the very next day, in a paddy field belonging to her.
The infant’s mother has been arrested by police under suspicion and is currently receiving treatment at the Kalmunai Hospital under police custody.
Ampara, Central Camp Police is conducting further investigations.
