The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has decided provide nominations for the upcoming election in the Northern Province to representatives from all of its constituent parties and will contest in all 5 districts which make up the province.
TNA parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran stated that the decisions were taken at a meeting held in Vavuniya this morning.
Leaders of parties such as the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK), Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF), Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO), People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) and Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) took part in the meeting, he said.
Sumanthiran stated that they would reach a final decision regarding the candidates they will select to contest the election before July 25.
The Tamil National Alliance had recently held several rounds of talks regarding the much awaited polls in the North, scheduled to take place in September.
The party last week announced former Supreme Court judge C. V. Vigneshwaran as its Chief Ministerial candidate for the Northern Province.
