An electoral organizer of the United National Party, who reportedly assaulted and bit the nose of an individual during a wedding reception in Attanagalla, is to be presented to court today (July 22).
He had handed himself over to police at around 10 am today after which police stated that the suspect would be presented before courts today.
The assault victim, said to be an employee of a state media organization, was admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital and received 10 stitches for his injuries.
Wathupitiwala Hospital Police said a complaint has been lodged alleging that UNP electoral organizer had carried out the attack and had also proceeded to bite the victim’s nose.
The Police Spokesman’s Officer confirmed that such an incident was reported between 4.00 pm-4.35 pm today (21).
