Two cops interdicted after heroin suspect escapes

Two Police Constables including a woman constable attached to the Madampe Police Station have been interdicted with immediate effect after allowing a heroin suspect to escape from the police station.
The two officers were interdicted as instructed by the Chilaw Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanath Weerasuriya last night.
The woman constable was the duty officer and the other constable was on reserve at the police station when the suspect, who had been arrested for the possession of heroin, managed to escape.
However, the suspect was recaptured while hiding at a residence in Mahagama North at around midnight yesterday.
