Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni have pledged to boost military cooperation between their respective countries.
President Museveni has held talks with the visiting Defence Secretary at State House Entebbe on Monday, which was also attended by Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Uganda Vellupillai Kananathan.
The Ugandan President and his Rajapaksa discussed bilateral relations including co-operation in the areas of military and defence.
The two countries further discussed sharing experience on military operations, sharing experience on disaster and offering specialized training to UPDF, Uganda’s New Vision reported today.
Others at the meeting included Uganda’s state minister for defence Jeje Odong and Lt Gen. Charles Angina while Air Vice Marshal K.A Gunatilake and Major General Shavendra Silva accompanied Rajapaksa.
Last November President Museveni visited Sri Lanka at the invitation of his counterpart, Mahinda Rajapaksa who also visited Uganda in May.
