
The Gomarankadawala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, L.B. Chandana Vijitha Kumara, who surrendered to courts over a warrant issued for his arrest for allegedly threatening police officers, was released on bail today.
The PS chairman was ordered released on a personal bail of Rs 25,000 by Trincomalee Additional Magistrate S. Satheeswaran.
Vijitha Kumara was also ordered to appear before the court on August 26.
He is accused of entering the Gomarankadawala Police Station to resolve a dispute between two groups in the area and threatening the officers inside the station.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on Sunday (21) while Vijitha Kumara surrendered to courts via an attorney this morning.
A large number of supporters had gathered outside the Trincomalee court premises when the PS chairman was produced at court today, Ada Derana reporter said.
