A UPFA member of the Hingurakgoda Pradeshiya Sabha, R.B. Ratnayake was killed after his SUV veered off the road and fell into a canal while crossing a bridge in the Rotawewa area in Minneriay today.
The PS member was traveling alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident while he is said to have drowned.
Minneriya Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
