UNP National Organizer Daya Gamage today (26) invited former MP Dayasiri Jayasekara to participate in a public debate with him and vowed to reveal what the latter had actually done to the United National Party.

The Eastern Provincial Councilor stated that the only reason people voted for Jayasekara was because he had an innocent face, he was a talented speaker and a singer.

He stated that it was UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe who even gave him the opportunity to speak against the government in parliament.

He claimed that the reason the government paid a large sum of money to obtain Dayasiri Jayasekara was because they have started to fear over the upcoming North Western Provincial Council election.

Gamage further alleged that Dayasiri’s crossover has already created a problematic situation with the government itself and that 58 members of the ruling party have spoken to him about joining the UNP.

If the party provides the proper platform they will definitely join the UNP, he told reporters in Colombo today.

Gamage also emphasized that the United National Party would not lose the election in 2014, just because several MPs crossed over to the government.

Mentioning the famous idiom “if you lie down with dogs, you will get up with fleas,” Gamage says the biggest mistake he had committed was to associate himself with “dogs”.
