A currency forging racket which was being operated from the Kilinochchi area was raided by the police while fours persons were arrested in the operation along with a stock of forged Rs.1000 notes.
The Kilinochchi police managed to arrest the suspect as well as 28 forged Rs.1000 notes. Police also managed to arrest another suspect in Vavuniya with 20 forged Rs.1000 notes.
Upon extensive questioning of the two suspects a further two suspects connected with the racket were subsequently arrested. The police uncovered that one of the suspects was directly involved in printing the notes.
Kilinochchi police also managed to seize equipment used to forge the currency.
The four suspects will be presented to the Kilinochchi Magistrate Court today (August 8).
